The Minister of Environment and Climate Change participates in the high-level event for oceans in Costa Rica
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, participated yesterday, Friday, June 7, 2024, in the proceedings of the high-level event on ocean action, held under the theme “Immersed in Change” in the Republic of Costa Rica, during June 7th and 8th of the current year.
He also attended the first session of the high-level dialogue, held under the theme “Increasing Attention to the Ocean Conference”, where the session discussed the preparations preceding the upcoming United Nations Ocean Conference, scheduled in France in June 2025, as well as the escalating challenges facing the oceans and the international funding shortfall to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 14.
He delivered a speech during the conference, in which he outlined Qatar’s efforts in preserving marine environment and biodiversity, protecting them from pollution through legislation, establishing marine protected areas, conducting research and studies, monitoring marine habitats and endangered species, and raising environmental awareness.
