The fourth edition of the Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change has kicked off, organized by the “Earthna” Center in collaboration with MOECC

Today marked the launch of the fourth edition of the Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change, organized by the “Earthna” Center, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. The event will take place over the course of October 1 and 2 at the Qatar National Convention Centre, as part of Qatar’s ongoing efforts to enhance climate action.
It also provided a unique opportunity for participants to exchange views and experiences, build relationships, explore the latest innovations, and stay informed about the latest developments in addressing the challenges of climate change.

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, emphasized that the Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change aims to unify the efforts of national and international institutions to exchange experiences and practices, and to develop innovative solutions to address the challenges of climate change. He noted that these efforts enhance Qatar’s ability to adapt to climate challenges and to develop sustainable environmental solutions that benefit both current and future generations.

He stated that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is committed to achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 related to environmental sustainability. The ministry plays a vital role in enhancing collaboration among governmental, private, and academic sectors, encouraging these sectors to take effective steps towards preserving the environment.

He added, “We also look forward to building strategic partnerships with various stakeholders to enhance collective climate action in Qatar and unify visions for addressing climate change.” For his part, Dr. Gonzalo Castro de la Mata, Executive Director of the “Earthna” Center, stated that the Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change has become a key platform that brings together stakeholders in climate change to exchange insights and explore solutions to the environmental challenges facing Qatar. It contributes to achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 with the support of partners, sponsors, and active participants.

It is worth noting that the current edition coincides with Qatar Sustainability Week, the largest campaign to support the environment in the country and is held in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. It features the participation of a distinguished group of officials from the governmental and private sectors, as well as research and academic institutions from both within and outside Qatar.

The previous edition of the dialogue in 2023 witnessed a significant turnout of over 400 participants, resulting in important recommendations that aided both the public and private sectors in enhancing their efforts to combat climate change and mitigate its impacts.
