The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change organized a workshop titled “Integrating Climate Models for Effective Adaptation,” attended by more than 100 participants from various state sectors. The workshop aimed to refine the skills of national personnel, contributing to the enhancement of climate change adaptation efforts.
This workshop comes in light of the increasing challenges faced by countries worldwide due to the impacts of climate change, particularly rising sea levels, water scarcity, and higher temperatures. The workshop focused on the importance of integrating climate models and early warning systems as a key pillar in enhancing decision-makers’ ability to predict climate change risks and develop proactive plans to mitigate their negative impacts, ultimately contributing to the building of sustainable climate resilience in the country.
The workshop provided participants with the opportunity to learn about Qatar’s National Adaptation Plan. Attendees were introduced to the roles and steps required to shape adaptation priorities in Qatar and contribute to enriching the development of the plan with necessary data and information. The workshop also featured several discussions aimed at exchanging experiences among participants, where the attendees reviewed the best practices and experiences implemented by various state sectors to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
The National Adaptation Plan project in Qatar is part of the country’s efforts to assess its exposure to the impacts of climate change. The project focuses on the most vulnerable sectors and aims to protect the country’s economy, its population, and the environment from climate-related threats.
