A successful participation by MoECC in Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change concluded its participation in the 12th edition of the Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition 2025, held at the Cultural Village “Katara,” achieving remarkable success through the large turnout at its booth and the wide interaction with the activities it presented.
The ministry’s booth attracted notable attention from visitors and stakeholders in the environmental and agricultural sectors, as it showcased its key achievements in agriculture, environmental protection, and biodiversity. Additionally, it highlighted projects such as the rehabilitation of grazing lands and the cultivation of wild seedlings, which contribute to preserving vegetation cover and enhancing environmental sustainability.
The awareness activities organized by the booth received widespread interaction, particularly the “Traditional Healer” section, which introduced visitors to the use of some local wild herbs and plants in traditional medicine. The activities also included an exhibition of photographs from environmental campaigns under the Qatar Desert Reforestation Initiative. Additionally, there was a section dedicated to local medicinal and aromatic herbs, as well as an exhibit on invasive and aggressive plants and their risks to the country’s biodiversity.
As part of its efforts to raise environmental awareness among visitors, the ministry’s booth hosted a number of environmental pioneers and students from outstanding school projects in the fields of environment and sustainability. Ministry experts also provided information and guidance on correct environmental practices and ways to mitigate negative impacts on the land environment, along with distributing souvenirs as a token of appreciation for the attendees’ engagement.
The booth showcased the ministry’s efforts and achievements in protecting vegetation cover, including the inventory of nearly 1,573 grazing lands and the removal of over 5,000 Ghaf trees over the past five years. It also highlighted the rehabilitation projects, which include the restoration of 41 grazing lands and the planting of approximately 15,123 wild seedlings, as well as the fencing of 70 grazing lands and the creation of a database containing detailed information about them.
The ministry emphasized its commitment to continuing its awareness and educational efforts to enhance environmental sustainability, praising the role played by the Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition in raising awareness and stimulating joint efforts to preserve the environment and natural resources.
