His Excellency Minister of Environment honors the students who won the awards of an environmental art competition in the State of Kuwait
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaie, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, honored today the students of the State of Qatar who won the first places in the Environmental Illustrations and Article 2024 competition, organized by the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment “ROPME” in the State of Kuwait.
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaie praised the high environmental awareness among school students, which contributed to their winning this distinguished award, pointing out that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change spares no effort in promoting environmental culture, raising sustainable awareness among students, and introducing them to all challenges of local environmental issues, pointing to the importance of all members of society joining hands to support the state’s efforts to protect the environment and enrich biodiversity in the State of Qatar.
His Excellency stressed that the Ministry will continue its awareness campaign, which is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, to raise environmental awareness among all students of the country’s schools, which contributes to instilling a culture of protection and preservation of the local environment as a national heritage, noting that this comes within the framework of achieving Qatar Vision 2030 and achieving the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy.
7 students from the State of Qatar won the first places in the Environmental Illustrations and Article Competition 2024, for school students from the member states of the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment “ROPME” in the State of Kuwait, which was held in celebration of the Regional Environment Day last month.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change coordinated with the state schools wishing to participate in the competition, where the works of 25 students were selected to participate in the categories offered by the award, which came under the slogan “The effects of coral reef degradation on marine life and beaches”, with the participation of large numbers of students from schools in the Arab region.
Qatar’s student positions in the ROPME competition were as follows:
Aisha Zaid Abdullah Al Saadi, from Al Wukair Secondary School for Girls, won first place at the regional level in environmental drawings.
Three students also achieved the first places in the category of drawings at the national level, namely: the first place went to the student Nouf Ali Al-Jamouria, from Al Wukair Secondary School for Girls, and in second place came the student Hamad Saad Al-Misnad, Al Khor Academy, and the third place came to the student Aisha Mohammed Ahmed Jassim, Al Wukair Secondary School for Girls.
As for the students who won the environmental article category at the national level, they came as follows: Judy Wael Abdel Rahim Saad, Zubaida Secondary School for Girls, Abdul Rahman Al-Sayed Abu Shahiya, Tariq Bin Ziyad Secondary School for Boys, and Doaa Saleh Muthanna Al-Awlaki, Al-Iman Secondary School for Girls, ranked third.
The Public Relations and Communication Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change fully supervised and coordinated the competition from the State of Qatar, where the Department’s Awareness Section worked on selecting 15 paintings and 10 articles to participate in the competition categories, out of 600 paintings and 70 articles, which is the total entries received by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change from public and private schools wishing to participate in the competition.
This crowning reflected the great efforts made by the Awareness Section of the Public Relations and Communication Department, to spread awareness and environmental culture among various segments of society, especially school students at all levels, in accordance with strategies, plans and programs developed to promote environmental culture among school students, through workshops, lectures and field trips organized to environmental areas, in order to achieve environmental sustainability and Qatar National Vision 2030.
