The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change organized a panel discussion entitled: Advancing Climate and Environmental Resilience through Nature-Based Solutions in 13th of Nov 2024, at the Qatari Pavilion in Cop29 in Baku.

The session had a bannel discussion by

Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al Marri, Director of the Food Department at the Ministry of Municipality in the State of Qatar,

Mr. Paul Simons, former US Ambassador to the United States, Director of Yale Center for Business and the Environment ,

Dr. Idris Maliar, Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA), Former Deputy Environment Minister and Director with AGWA.

Mr. Marco Tulio Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chief of Staff, Secretariat for Climate, Energy and Environment in Brazil.

The panel discussed the importance of natural bassed solutions and environmental biodiversity through natural based solutions and the inherent strengths of small ecosystems, and highlighted most important quick wins in  the State of Qatar, Brazil, the United States of America and European country on how to provide technology, comprehensive strategies to eleviate the impact on climate and make adaptation policies to it, and  tackle climate change.

Mr. Simmons provided an overview of the role that youth and future policymakers have played in improving natural-based solutions, how programs such as the Yale Climate Fellowship Program can support climate action, and how international actors can champion national knowledge to advance climate and environmental action.

Dr. Idris Maliar outlined models of using nature-based solutions as a powerful lever to enable adaptation, with a focus on innovations to transform solutions into action solutions, in driving monetary and contemporary resilience, thus creating innovative financial innovations that leverage the success in existence, demonstrating how strategic investments and policies can lead to impactful climate action.

Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al Marri provided insights into the latest research projects, highlighting how cutting-edge patents are activating rapid climate resilience, and highlighted the Ministry of Municipality strategy and its innovative projects and programs for natural-based solutions.

Mr. Marco Tulio explained the diversity of forest conservation in Brazil, the crucial role of forests in the global climate agenda and how specific actions can go a long way towards greater environment.
